Artist Statement

For me photography is the art of realism.  In each image I create there is not only the reality of what is in front of my camera but the reality of what each image inspires me to see within it. In that realism I find a purity and raw depth that defines the art of each image.  

In my early years as I worked with a small film camera I had no idea the world I would eventually see through my lens.  Photography soon became my place of peace, growth and understanding.

Over the years as my journey has continued I have embraced numerous techniques and variations of my craft to further bring the art of realism alive in images.  The very process of seeing the world not only as it is but also as what I can envision it to be serves as the catalyst for my creativity.  As an artist I strive to create a balance in my work of the wonder in our current world and the strength of our history. In that balance I hope to share the best of not only who we were but who we are and who we are certain to become.
